PRACTICE
Our practice investigates systems through making. Different projects ask different questions about how systems can be represented, how they shape human experience, and how humans and systems transform one another.
Our practice is grounded in an epistemological position: we cannot know a complex system in its entirety. We can only ever understand a system from our own human perspective; we can never know it from the perspective of the system itself. Our knowledge is therefore necessarily constructed through representation, experience and reflection.
This understanding forms the conceptual framework for our practice, which investigates complex systems through three interconnected lines of inquiry: representing systems, experiencing systems, and transforming systems.
Together, these inquiries explore how we construct knowledge of systems, how systems shape our lives, and how our interactions with them can transform both ourselves and the systems of which we are part.
REPRESENTING SYSTEMS
How can invisible systems be made visible ?
Exploring how complex systems can be made visible through sculpture, material investigations and two-dimensional forms. This inquiry examines how relationships, patterns, networks and emergent behaviours can be translated into tangible representations, enabling invisible systems to be perceived, questioned and understood through making.
LIVING WITHIN SYSTEMS
How do systems shape human experience?
Investigating how complex systems shape human experience, behaviour and perception. Through sculpture and installation, this inquiry explores the often unseen forces that influence our bodies, emotions, identities and everyday lives, revealing the ways in which we inhabit, endure and respond to the systems around us.
TRANSFORMING SYSTEMS
How do humans and systems transform one another?
Exploring how people and systems influence, adapt to and transform one another through participation. By creating situations in which individuals collaboratively engage with materials, environments and each other, this inquiry investigates emergence, feedback and collective learning, asking how both human behaviour and the systems we create evolve through interactio
