Phase 3 – Public Sculpture

In the planned full Complex Systems programme, Phase 3 installs the sculpture developed from the interconnected willow rings. The sculpture moves from construction into a site-specific public installation, where its form meets the conditions and activity of the chosen setting.

Installation in context

Installation establishes the sculpture’s position and support within the chosen site. From that point, weather, material change and the activity around the work become part of its evolving behaviour.

Learning from the Pilot

The pilot was installed successfully with non-specialist support staff, using diagrams and careful measurements. Developing a regular installation team is an option for the full programme. Read the Phase 3 pilot lessons.

After installation, the project moves into six months of Phase 4 – Observation and Change.
