Phase 4 – Observation and Change
In the planned full Complex Systems programme, Phase 4 follows installation of the public sculpture. Over six months, observers and the artist will observe and document how the sculpture changes through weather, material movement, visitor interaction and the conditions of the site. This is the project’s durational systems observation.
What the phase observes
Photography, drawings and written observations will record changes in the sculpture’s structure, materials and relationship with its setting. The observation follows the work as an evolving part of the site rather than treating it as a fixed object.
How the pilot informs the full programme
Observation of the installed pilot is ongoing. Unexpected pollarding in the pilot showed the value of learning about planned site activity early. Its records will inform how changes in structure, materials and the relationship with the site are documented over time. The pilot observations are recorded on the Pilot Phase 4 – Observation and Change page.
